The store has been here since 1939

Davis Bairen and Guthrie Middleton built the store in 1939 to serve the small community around the lake. The carved sign on the gable still reads LAKE ROESIGER STORE, SINCE 1939. Lyle Inman bought it from his brother in 1954 and kept it until he died in 2018.

The lake is named for Richard Roesiger, who homesteaded here. His family farmed the land and rented boats and cabins to visitors, which is more or less what the store did for decades, and what we plan to do again. It has changed hands about a dozen times and has always been run by someone local. Cindy Howard, who is president of the Lake Roesiger Community and Boat Club, said it well when we reopened: every new owner has added their own chapter.

The store sat empty from December 2025. We bought the property in June 2026 and opened the doors again on Friday, August 15. The store half is running. The deli half is not, and that is the next job.

How the club works

Good to know

Is the deli open?

Not yet. The store half is open; the deli half is not. We are replacing the septic system first, and the deli also needs a building expansion and a full commercial kitchen, planned for 2028. When it opens, it will be a full-service deli with sandwiches, salads, and other meals. We will post it here and on Facebook.

Do you sell fuel?

Not yet. We are working on non-ethanol fuel for the Union 76 pump in the lot, and the system has to be certified before we can sell it. We will post it here and on Facebook when it is on sale. We do carry propane.

Do you have fishing tackle?

Yes. We got the fishing gear set up in August and the sign out front is not decorative. Call us at (360) 799-9052 if you want to know whether we have something specific before you drive out.

What about kayaks?

Not yet. The previous owners sold the boats before we bought the store, so we are starting from scratch. We plan to rent kayaks, canoes, and paddleboats, along with life vests and fishing poles, starting in 2027. The sign out front still says KAYAKS. We will post it here and on Facebook when they are ready.

Is there a boat launch?

Yes. The WDFW ramp is on the south shore of the lake. Lake Roesiger Park, on the east shore, has a roped swimming area, a beach, picnic tables, a grass field, and wooded trails. Water skiing is allowed from May 25 to September 25.

What is in the lake?

Rainbow trout, kokanee, largemouth bass, black crappie, yellow perch, and brown bullhead catfish. The state stocks it every year with more than 10,000 trout and around 40,000 kokanee.

How old is the store?

Built in 1939, so eighty-seven years. It has changed hands about a dozen times and has always been run by someone local.
